These
live under stones or in pond mud. They swim about on their sides. They
breathe through gills which are at the top of their legs. The females
carry their eggs and young in an egg pouch.

The males carry the females!

Life cycle
Water shrimps hatch from eggs into
tiny shrimps which look just like the adults. There is no larval
stage.
Did you know ... In
spring and summer when the females are carrying eggs in their egg pouch,
they are themselves carried about by the males.
